🔢 How to Calculate GPA
GPA Calculation Formula:
Standard GPA Formula:
GPA = (Σ Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ (Σ Total Credit Hours)
Where Σ means "sum of all"
Step-by-Step Calculation:
Step 1: Convert each letter grade to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, etc.)
Step 2: Multiply grade points by credit hours for each course
Step 3: Add all (grade points × credit hours) together
Step 4: Add all credit hours together
Step 5: Divide total grade points by total credit hours
Example Calculation:
Course 1: A (4.0) × 3 credits = 12.0 quality points
Course 2: B+ (3.3) × 4 credits = 13.2 quality points
Course 3: A- (3.7) × 3 credits = 11.1 quality points
Course 4: B (3.0) × 2 credits = 6.0 quality points
Total: 42.3 quality points ÷ 12 credits = 3.53 GPA
